Narration Part 3 তে আমরা এর প্রাথমিক নিয়মগুলো দেখেছি করিমের গল্প দিয়ে, এই ব্লগে আমরা ঠিক একই গল্প দিয়ে অন্যান্য নিয়ম গুলো জেনে নেব খুবই সহজে। 

তাহলে চল শুরু করা যাক!

করিম আর রহিম বন্ধু, রহিম করিম কে একদিন বলেছিল, "আমি খুব অসুস্থ।" এখন করিম সেই কথাটি তার মা'কে এসে বলছে, মা, রহিম একদিন খুবই অসুস্থ ছিল।

খেয়াল কর, করিম কিন্তু বলেনি যে রহিম অসুস্থ। সে তার মা'কে Indirectly বলার সময় অতীতের ভাষায় বললো। 

তাই Rule-4 হলো, Reporting verb যদি Past Tense হয়, তবে Reported Speech এর ও অনুরূপ Past Tense হবে। যেমন:

Direct : Meher said, "I am going to market."

Indirect : Meher said that she was going to market.

Direct : He said, "I will give you a pen."

Indirect : He said that he would give me a pen.

আশা করি এই নিয়ম বুঝতে পেরেছ! না বুঝলে কমেন্টে একবার বলে দিও।

এখন দেখ, করিমকে রহিম অতীতে একদিন বলেছিল, "আমি অমুক যায়গায় গেলাম।" তাহলে করিম তার মা'কে এসে বলবে, রহিম আমাকে বলেছিল যে সে অমুক জায়গায় গিয়েছিল। 

Note:- রহিম করিমকে বলেছিল, Past Indefinite এ, আর করিম তার মাকে বললো Past Perfect এ, কারণ সময়ের দূরত্ব অনেক বেড়ে গিয়েছে। 

তাই Rule-5 হলো, Reporting verb ও Reported Speech উভয়ই Past tense হলে Reported Speech এর tense নিম্নরূপে পরিবর্তিত হয়।

Past Indefinite  টি হবে Past Perfect

Past Continuous  টি হবে Past Perfect Continuous

যেমন:

Direct : He said, "I had a cow."

Indirect : He said that he had had a cow.

Direct : He said, "I was eating mango."

Indirect : He said that he had been eating mango.

এখন!

=> Rule-4 ও Rule-5 কে একসাথে করলে বিষয়টা আরো সহজ হবে। অর্থাৎ Reporting verb এর Past Tense হলে আমরা নিচের প্রক্রিয়াটি অনুসরণ করে indirect করব:

1. Direct speech এর Reported speech এর Verb এর tense present Indefinite হলে, Indirect speech এ উক্ত verb এর tense হবে Past Indefinite।

অর্থাৎ, present indefinite ---> past Indefinite

Example:

Direct : I said to him,"You are very honest."

Indirect : I told him that he was very honest.

2. Direct speech এর Reported speech এর verb এর tense Present Continuous হলে, Indirect Speech এ উক্ত Verb এর Tense হবে Past Continuous।

অর্থাৎ, Present continuous ---> Past Continuous

Example : 

Direct : The teacher said to us,"You are making mistakes."

Indirect : The teacher role us that we were making mistakes.

3. Direct Speech এর Reported Speech এর Verb এর Tense Present Perfect হলে Indirect Speech এ উক্ত Verb এর Tense হবে Past Perfect.

অর্থাৎ, Present Perfect ---> Past Perfect

Example:

Direct : He said to me, "I have won the game."

Indirect : He told me that he had won the game.

4. Direct speech এর Reported Speech এর Verb এর Tense Present Perfect Continuous হলে, Indirect Speech এ উক্ত Verb এর Tense হবে Past Perfect Continuous.

অর্থাৎ, Present Perfect Continuous ---> Past Perfect Continuous.

Example :

Direct : He said to me, "I have been reading the book."

Indirect : He told me that he had been reading the book.

5. Direct speech এর Reported speech এর Verb এর Tense Past Indefinite হলে, Indirect Speech এ উক্ত verb এর Tense হবে Past Perfect.

অর্থাৎ, Past Indefinite  ---> Past Perfect

Example : 

Direct : He said to his father, "I was ill."

Indirect : He told his father that he had been ill.

6. Direct speech এর Reported speech এর Verb এর Tense Past Continuous  হলে, Indirect Speech এ উক্ত Verb এর Tense হবে Past Perfect Continuous.

অর্থাৎ, Past Continuous ---> Past Perfect Continuous. 

Example : 

Direct : The captain said, "We were winning the match."

Indirect : The captain said that they had been winning the match.

Note: Past Perfect এবং Past Perfect Continuous tense হলে এদের Tense -এর কোন পরিবর্তন হয় না। অর্থাৎ এরা অপরিবর্তিত অবস্থায় থাকে। যেমন:

Direct : Rahim said, "I had eaten rice before he came."

Indirect : Rahim said that he had eaten rice before he came.

Hacks: এই সম্পূর্ণ Process টা এক কথায় বলতে গেলে হলো, যেই Tense Direct Speech এ আছে, সেটা Indirect এ আরো এক ধাপ অতীতে চলে যাবে।
